Philosophy of the Programme
Microbiology is the study of microorganisms, a large and diverse group of organisms that exist as single cells or cell clusters. The Microbiology programme housed in the Department of Biological Sciences is committed to provide basic knowledge in the study of microorganisms and their effect on man and his environment. The programme has been designed to provide a sound understanding of the concepts of micro-organisms in relation to mankind and the environment. The programme will elaborate the importance of micro-organisms in the industry, health and environmental sectors of the society. The Microbiology programme will also emphasis the traditional biotechnology and the linkage to the current modern biotechnology.
