Bachelor Engineering in Electrical/Electronics Engineering

Overview

DURATION:

The department operates full time academic programmes which culminates in the award of a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree after a duration of five academic sessions for students who gain admission through UTME and three or four academic sessions for students admitted by Direct Entry into 300 and 200 level respectively. The programme will run on full-time basis for a minimum of ten (10) and maximum of fifteen (15) semesters for UTME and Remedial students; minimum of eight (8) and maximum of thirteen (13) semesters for 200 Level Direct Entry students and minimum of six (6) and a maximum of ten (10) semesters for 300 Level Direct Entry students. It is also expected that the students go for twelve (12) weeks industrial training at the end of 300 Level and twenty-four weeks that runs across the entire second semester in 400 Level.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES:

Electrical and Electronics Engineers to be produced are expected to be equipped, among others, with the following skills: Define, investigate, and analyse electrical and other borderline engineering problems; Design or develop creative and innovative solutions to electrical engineering and related problems; Evaluate the outcomes and impacts of electrical and electronics engineering activities; Take personal responsibility for making decisions on the part, or all, of electrical and electronics engineering activities;

Initiate, plan, lead or manage electrical and electronics and related engineering activities; Exercise sound judgment in the course of his/her work; Communicate efficiently, honestly and effectively with others in the course of his engineering work; and develop and operate within a hazard and risk framework to evaluate outcomes and impacts of electrical and electronics engineering activities.
