The Founder and Chancellor of Thomas Adewumi University, Engr. Dr. Johnson Adewumi (Asiwaju of Oko-Irese), has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award in Educational Leadership by Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State.
The prestigious recognition was presented during Redeemer’s University’s 19th Awards and Recognition Day, held on Thursday, 25th September, 2025, at the University Auditorium as part of activities marking its 17th Convocation Ceremony. The event celebrated individuals and institutions whose dedication, innovation, and leadership have significantly contributed to the advancement of education and national development.
Dr. Adewumi, a visionary educationist and philanthropist, was recognized for his exceptional contributions to educational development and leadership in Nigeria. Through the establishment of Thomas Adewumi International College (TAICO) in 1996 and subsequently Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) in 2021, he has demonstrated unwavering commitment to nurturing excellence, character, and innovation among young people.
The Chancellor was represented at the ceremony by the University Registrar, Mr. Kolawole Fisoye, who received the award on his behalf. The recognition, tagged “Lifetime Achievement in Educational Leadership,” celebrates his enduring impact in shaping quality education through visionary policies, sustainable infrastructure, and global partnerships.
In his message of appreciation, Dr. Adewumi expressed delight over the recognition, describing it as a motivation to continue investing in human capacity development and educational transformation. “This honour is a testament to what passion, vision, and consistency can achieve in building the next generation of global leaders. Thomas Adewumi University will continue to seek areas of collaboration with Redeemer’s University and other forward-looking institutions to advance tertiary education in Nigeria,” he stated.
