Thomas Adewumi University through the Board of Trustees has confirmed the appointment of Professor Francisca Oladipo as the new vice-chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of the fast-growing academic institution. The appointment of the excellent researcher and administrator was announced after a consensus was reached by the institution’s Board.
Professor Oladipo who has over two decades of academic and research leadership experiences will step into this position from Federal University Lokoja (FUL), where she currently serves as the Director of Quality Assurance and the Head of Computer Science Department. She has previously served as the Director of Research, Innovations, and International Relations at Kampala International University, Uganda, and taught at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Nigeria. Professor Oladipo will be assuming the office of the vice-chancellor, TAU from Federal University Lokoja (FUL), where she currently serves as the Director of Quality Assurance and the Head of Computer Science Department.
Professor Oladipo bagged her Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2010 and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Electronics and Computer Science, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, USA under the TOTAL-MIT Empowering the Teachers Initiative. She is an alumna of the prestigious Machine Learning Summer School (MLSS), Universidad Autonoma De Madrid, and the Oxford University Institute of Continuing Education. She also attended the UNESCO-sponsored Data Science and Analytics School at the Institute of Analytics and Data Science, University of Essex, UK.
The Founder and Board of Trustees of the private University also celebrate the pioneer VC, Prof Kolade Luke Ayorinde who will be leaving the University at the end of July 2022. Engineer Johnson Bamidele commended the pioneer VC, Prof L.K Ayorinde for deploying his creative ability to ensure that the new University acquired credible and hardworking academic and non-academic staff and created a good curriculum for the takeoff of its Science, Technology, and Basic Medical Sciences programs.
Prof Ayorinde was invited by the Founder in 2015 to serve as chairman of PIC of the proposed University and was appointed as pioneer vice-chancellor in March 2021. He will be returning to the University of Ilorin where he had been on a leave of absence.
