In its unwavering commitment to equipping its graduating class of 2024 with the essential skills and mindset required for success in the real world, Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) hosted another enlightening module series of its Career Programme. The focus of this module was on Leadership and Management Skills, Ethics, and Professionalism, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.

The session was led by Engr. Emmanuel Egbedeyi, Managing Director/CEO of LWG International Nigeria Limited. With a background in Industrial Engineering and an MBA in General Management, Engr. Egbedeyi brought a wealth of experience to the lecture hall. He is also recognized as a board chairman and member of several prominent Nigerian NGOs.

Engr. Egbedeyi commenced his lecture by invoking a quote by John C. Maxwell, stating, "A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way." He emphasized that leadership transcends titles and positions; it's fundamentally about influencing lives and embarking on a journey of continuous learning and growth.

Throughout the session, he delved into various facets of leadership, including different styles and approaches such as Autocratic, Democratic, Laissez-faire, Transformational, and Transactional. He underscored the importance of understanding conflict resolution, emphasizing the significance of finding peaceful and mutually acceptable solutions to disputes.

Moreover, Engr. Egbedeyi provided invaluable insights into Project Management basics, elucidating key components, timelines, resources, and constraints such as scope, time, and cost. He delineated the roles and responsibilities of project managers, team members, and stakeholders, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of project dynamics.

Addressing Workplace Ethics, he highlighted the qualities of a good employer and their impact on organizational dynamics both internally and externally. He stressed the importance of professional conduct and etiquette, underscoring the significance of meeting employer expectations in terms of quality, communication, accountability, initiative, and teamwork.

In conclusion, Engr. Egbedeyi shared practical tips for developing a strategic approach to job applications, equipping students with the necessary tools to navigate the competitive job market successfully.

The continuation of TAU's Career Programme with such comprehensive modules reaffirms the university's commitment to nurturing well-rounded graduates who are not only academically proficient but also equipped with the skills and mindset to thrive in their future endeavors.
