Thomas Adewumi University played host to the Vice-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, alongside a team of senior officials, during an official working visit to the institution.
The programme commenced with opening formalities led by the Registrar of TAU, Mr. Kolawole Fisoye, who welcomed the visiting delegation and introduced the University’s Management team, Deans, and Faculty members present. Similarly, the Registrar of Redeemer’s University, Mr. David Akintola, formally presented his institution’s delegation.
In her welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor of TAU, Professor Francisca O. Oladipo, gave a comprehensive overview of the University’s journey since its establishment in 2021. She traced its origins to the legacy of its sister institution, Thomas Adewumi International College (TAICO), founded in 1996, and reaffirmed TAU’s mission of creating an excellent academic environment that produces globally competitive graduates.
Professor Oladipo highlighted the University’s phenomenal growth, noting its increase from 66 pioneer students in 2021 to nearly 2,000 in 2025. She further emphasized TAU’s impressive leap in national rankings, from 252nd position in 2022 to 50th as of August 2025. Currently, the University ranks 4th among the 14 universities in Kwara State and holds 1st position among the 20 universities licensed in Nigeria within the last four years.
The Vice-Chancellor also announced that TAU runs 22 academic programmes across seven faculties, with its first cohort of medical students set to resume in September 2025. She underscored TAU’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and vocational training, noting with pride that both the main and annex campuses are powered entirely by solar energy.
On community impact, Professor Oladipo highlighted TAU’s provision of road infrastructure, affordable quality education, and outreach programmes such as free SDGs summer schools for interested people. She also pointed to TAU’s growing partnerships with prestigious institutions and organizations locally and internationally as a strong indicator of its upward trajectory.
In his remarks, Professor Shadrach Akindele commended TAU for its remarkable achievements in such a short time. He explained that his interest in visiting was inspired by a prior engagement in Morocco, where Professor Oladipo had spoken passionately about TAU’s vision and growth. He described the visit as an opportunity to foster collaboration and mutual learning, congratulating TAU’s leadership on their extraordinary progress.
The visit concluded with a guided tour of the University’s key facilities, including the farm, solar farm, cattle ranch, student hostels, laboratories, lecture halls, Centre for Distance Learning, and the School of Postgraduate Studies. Members of the Redeemer’s University delegation expressed admiration for TAU’s rapid expansion and the solid foundation it continues to build.
At Thomas Adewumi University, we are poised to set new benchmarks in academic excellence, innovation, and community impact, while shaping the future of education in Nigeria and beyond.
