International Law and Jurisprudence

The philosophy of the programme is to produce top-notch lawyers with capacity to respond to the legal needs of the ever changing and dynamic society in Nigeria and any part of the global society. The curriculum is designed to sustain the traditional and core values of the legal profession in addition to training lawyers with modern tools and equipping them with the requisite lawyering skills and knowledge of emerging legal issues like Clinical Law, Cyber Law, Environmental Law, Health law, Social Justice and others.

The programme ensures that a comparative approach is adopted to legal studies bearing in mind the different systems of law – Statutory Law, Common law, Customary Law and others concurrently in operation.

  1. Make the faculty a centre of excellence for legal education in Nigeria and Africa in general.
  2. Blend theory and practice in preparing law students for a successful legal career
  3. Serve as a training centre for capacity building on socio – legal issues.
  4. Create a new breed of lawyers that will be capable of thinking outside the constraints of their immediate environments and are able to compete effectively in any part of the world.
