In a groundbreaking move to equip its graduating students with the skills necessary to navigate the evolving landscape of Technology, Thomas Adewumi University launched its highly anticipated AI General Assembly programme on yesterday, 1st May 2024. The six-week intensive Data Science and AI Bootcamp promises to revolutionize the skill set of participants across various disciplines.

The event commenced with an invigorating orientation session hosted by Dr. Farohunbi Samuel, the Programme Coordinator, at the Virtual Lab of the University. In attendance were the eager graduating students alongside the esteemed instructors who joined virtually. Dr. Farohunbi laid out the blueprint of the training, setting the stage for an immersive learning experience.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Oladipo also graced the occasion with her presence, extending a warm welcome to the instructors and applauding their dedication to shaping the future minds of the institution. Her address emphasized the significance of the training programme as a pivotal stepping stone towards graduation, urging students to seize the opportunity for personal and professional growth.

The mantle was then passed to Mr. Ezekiel Ogundepo, the esteemed Team Lead of the instructors, who introduced himself and his distinguished colleagues. With a wealth of experience spanning over a decade, the instructors promised to delve deep into the realms of Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI applications over the next six weeks.

The agenda for the day was rich and varied, with each session designed to unlock the potential within every participant. Adeola Lawal, a Data Migration specialist at Atlassian, kicked off the proceedings with an enlightening discourse on crafting a compelling portfolio and selecting the right tools as a data analyst. From the importance of LinkedIn, GitHub, and Kaggle as portfolio platforms to the essential elements of a standout portfolio, Adeola's insights set the stage for a journey of self-discovery and professional advancement.

Dr. Rose Ogundokun, a luminary in the field of Computer Science, took the stage next, shedding light on the indispensable role of Data Science tools in research dissertations and publications. Her comprehensive overview encompassed the entire research lifecycle, from data collection to interpretation and reporting, emphasizing the transformative power of tools like R, Python, and TensorFlow.

Completing the triumvirate of enlightening sessions, Mr. David Akanji, a Data Analyst, demystified the art of LinkedIn optimization, guiding students through the intricacies of establishing a strong online presence. With practical examples and actionable tips, David empowered students to leverage the full potential of LinkedIn in unlocking a myriad of opportunities in the professional sphere.

The culmination of the presentations paved the way for an engaging question-and-answer session, where students had the opportunity to glean further insights from the experts. As the day drew to a close, Dr. Farohunbi Samuel expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for her visionary leadership and to the instructors for their unwavering commitment to excellence.
