Thomas Adewumi University Nursing Students Association Hosts Seminar on "Career Path in Nursing"

In an endeavor to illuminate the myriad career paths available within the Nursing profession, Thomas Adewumi University Nursing Students Association (TANSA) orchestrated a dynamic seminar titled "Career Path in Nursing." The event attracted the entire Nursing faculty, including students and staff, who congregated at the University Auditorium for an enriching experience.

Kicking off the event, Miss Pelumi Aladeloye, the Association President, took the stage to deliver her opening remarks. With grace and enthusiasm, she acknowledged the esteemed presence of Dr. Mrs. Aina, the Dean of the faculty, and Dr. Mrs. Fashiku, who not only served as the Head of the Department but also graced the occasion as the Guest Speaker, and other faculty members in attendance.  Miss Pelumi's address set the tone for the seminar, "Nursing is not merely a career; it's a journey of endless possibilities." Emphasizing the boundless opportunities and avenues for growth within the Nursing field, "today's seminar aims to illuminate the myriad paths awaiting our students, providing invaluable insights and resources for their career voyage." She urged students to leverage the seminar as a platform for networking, exploration, and envisioning the future of Nursing collectively.

Following her remarks, Dr. Modupe Aina, the Dean of the Faculty, extended a warm welcome to all participants and conveyed the Vice-Chancellor's goodwill message. In her address, she reminisced about the establishment of the Nigerian Universities Nursing Students Association in 1996, underlining their pivotal role in fostering unity and purpose among Nursing students in Nigeria. Dr. Aina commended Thomas Adewumi University's Nursing Students Association for spearheading such an enlightening seminar, and encouraged students to capitalize on the educational opportunities available at Thomas Adewumi University, emphasizing the institution's unique offerings in Nursing education.

The spotlight then shifted to the distinguished speaker of the day, Dr. Elizabeth Adeoti Fashiku, a luminary in the field of Nursing. With a Ph.D. in Health Education and a diverse array of Nursing credentials to her name. Dr. Fashiku's comprehensive presentation on "Career Path in Nursing" captivated the audience, as she navigated through various topics including the definition of key terms, the significance of career path in Nursing, and the stages of career progression within the field. With clarity and expertise, "Choosing a career in Nursing is akin to embarking on a voyage of self-discovery," remarked Dr. Fashiku. "Each path is unique, shaped by individual passions, strengths, and aspirations."

She elucidated the diverse career paths available to aspiring Nurses, shedding light on specialties such as Nurse Research, Dialysis Nursing, and Psychiatric Nursing, among others. Students were captivated as they gleaned firsthand insights from her as she shared anecdotes from her illustrious career. These narratives served not only to inspire but also to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding the Nursing profession, illuminating the sheer breadth of opportunities awaiting aspiring Nurses.

Following Dr. Fashiku's insightful discourse, the seminar culminated in an engaging question-and-answer session, allowing students to engage further with the speakers and delve deeper into the nuances of Nursing career paths. Mr. Ameh Musa, the Dean of Student Care Services, shared his goodwill message with the attendees. Commending the students for their choice of profession, he underscored the importance of continuous learning and specialization in Nursing. Mr. Musa urged students to embrace their passion for Nursing with discipline and dedication, emphasizing the profound impact they could have on Nigerian society.

In the aftermath of this resounding success, TANSA reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing the next generation of Nursing leaders, paving the way for a brighter and more prosperous future in healthcare. Overall, the seminar proved to be an enlightening and empowering experience for Thomas Adewumi University Nursing students, equipping them with invaluable insights to navigate their future careers with confidence and purpose.
